Amateurs and experts, in improvisation

Prevost 129: "The meta-musical force of free improvisation is available to everyone. As long as the novice and the master understand and continue to practice the two interlocking precepts of heurism and dialogue, then they will be living the morality of the meta-music."

"At the onset of a meta-musical journey the aspirant is likely to be overwhelmed by the new aesthetic. The sense of liberation and self-realisation will be powerful. The new ideas and the effect of the musical experience will create a sharper perception, arguably keener than that of the more experienced improvisor. Conversely, the master meta-musician will need to renew a sense of freshness for the improvising facilities to continue to function free from the distortions of technique and meritocracy that tend to infiltrate a musician's consciousness."
