Thiel and competition

Slobodian and Tarnoff, 29: For Peter Thiel, "[a] company that invents something radically new can 'earn' a monopoly--which should be the aim of any business. Competition and capitalism are opposites, Thiel provocatively argues, since capitalism is about the accumulation of capital and you can't accumulate capital as easily if you're competing. A monopoly, by contrast, 'owns its market, so it can set its own prices.'"
