Preciado 341: "In the past few years, queer has been recodified by the dominant discourses. We are currently facing the risk of turning the term into a description of a neoliberal, free market identity that generates new exclusions and hides the specific conditions of the oppression of transsexual, transgender people, crip, or racialized bodies."
Preciado does not mean "that we can no longer use the word queer; I merely mean that it has lost a large part of its subversive energy and can no longer serve as today's common denominator to describe the proliferation of strategies of resistance to categories of gender and the normalization of sexuality as well as to the processes of industrialization and privitization of the body as 'product'" (342)
