Barrett Watten's This (first three issues co-edited with Robert Grenier)
Hejinian 242: "The first issue appeared in 1971, the twelfth and last in 1982; and over the course of its eleven years of existence, the work of ninety-two contributors (principally writers, though a few were visual artists) appeared in the pages of This. In important ways, This inaugurated what has come to be known as Language writing"
Not all contributors were Language writers, but all evinced "an interest in experiments with the materiality of linguistic structures and the development of a radical poetics. To a large extent, Watten viewed the editing of This as an engagement with history, lodging works of writing (events) into active relationships with each other"
