Hayot 79: "The entire Kantian discussion of aesthetic judgment is a kind of figure, or passageway, through which one becomes conscious of the actually existing singularity of certain aspects of the real, and thus, in a second stage, comes to understand one's epistemological responsibility to the objects that bear that singularity."
This extends all the way up to the modern humanities, which take as their "general task [...] to expose the unique singularity or self-legislating properties of the artowkr or person, to encourage others to recognize that unique presence, and possibly to militate for policies and forms of the social that would register, and respect, their special forms of being."
