apparently John Tilbury did a version of Sonatas and Interludes
from the sleevenotes: "My guess is that Cage simply selected his preparations from the junk he had lying about his apartment and in his pockets. He experimented and, having obtained a pleasing sound, measured the distances. I confess I work in this spirit."
