Human needs vs capital's needs

Crary notes that there is now an "effective prohibition" on discussing "how existing technical capacities and premises could be deployed in the service of human and social needs, rather than the requirements of capital and empire" (49)

an "effective prohibition" may be overstating it, but I would agree that the "human and social needs" are effectively held in check by the "requirements of capital and empire"
