Durkheim's "collective representations"

Durkheim argues that when we are born into a culture we experience it as nature

"the way we [perceive] the most basic categories, such as space and time, [are] given to us in infancy by the culture into which we [are] born" (Ogden, in On Not Knowing)

"Durkheim called these givens 'collective representations'"
